Love them or hate them, you must give it to ants. They are survivors.
Around the globe, the pint-sized pests have managed to creep and crawl into people’s homes and businesses in pursuit of food and shelter.
Florida, in particular, is a paradise for ants, and there are some exotically named species like Tawny Crazy, Acrobat, Big Headed, White Footed, and Thief. That sounds like the lineup for Monday Night Raw. The following are the ones that cause the biggest headache to Orlando’s residents.
Argentine Ants: Argentine Ants are a shiny black. They are attracted to sweet foods and are particularly ingenious at finding ways into your kitchen. They are not as dramatically destructive as some of the others on this list. When they get into your home in small groups, though, they can seem to stick around forever. It can be very challenging to determine where they are coming from and how they are getting into your home. If you have black ants in your home and can’t seem to get rid of them, call an exterminator who can choke them into submission.
Carpenter Ants: As the name suggests, Carpenter Ants specialize in wood. Using their powerful jaws, they dig out areas of wood where they can nest, potentially causing structural damage to your home.
Fire Ants: Fire Ants like setting up giant dirt mounds around people’s houses. They are also known to make their way inside through A/C vents and entryways. Whether inside or outside, Fire Ants are a problem, especially if you accidentally stumble across a Fire Anthill. They swarm over anything that may disturb the nest like they are in a battle royale. If you have Fire Ants in the Orlando area, Sam “Kid Romeo” Roman of Commando Pest Control will eliminate them with the same expertise and ferocity he used to employ in the ring during his time as a champion professional wrestler.
Ghost Ants: Ghost Ants are small, but what they lack in size they make up for with tenacity. These little guys can detect food from an incredible distance and will quickly turn your kitchen pantry into a buffet. That is unless you find someone willing to put his boots on, climb the top rope, and do battle.
Pharaoh Ants: Pharaoh Ants are not ones that you want to find in your house. These yellowish bugs will invade your kitchen, eat and contaminate your food, and then hang out and wait for more. These bold ants are cruisin’ for a bruisin’. Unfortunately, they are incredibly hard to kill and require the help of a professional. If you live in the Orlando area, and Pharaoh Ants have burst into the ring, do NOT try to handle the situation yourself. Waiting will only make the situation worse.
